Wallace McCain

G. Wallace F. McCain (born April 9, 1930 in Florenceville , New Brunswick , † May 13, 2011 in Toronto , Ontario ) was a Canadian entrepreneur and owner of McCain Foods .

Wallace McCain and his brother Harrison founded McCain Foods in New Brunswick in 1956, one of the world's largest manufacturers of frozen products. The company made him a billionaire. In 2011, Forbes magazine ranked him 512th richest person on Forbes Magazine's list of billionaires .

In 1995, he took over Maple Leaf Foods , a meat production company , and passed the reins to his son Michael McCain .

McCain was a charity. He supported the National Ballet School financially and saw to it that an institute was set up at New Brunswick University, which is dedicated to the training of entrepreneurs.

McCain died in May 2011 of complications from pancreatic cancer .

He was married to Margaret McCain , the first female lieutenant governor of the province of New Brunswick , and had four children.
