Ana Maria Tănasie

Ana Maria Tănasie (born April 6, 1995 in Hunedoara ) is a Romanian handball player who plays on the left wing position.

She started playing handball in her hometown of Hunedoara and was later selected for the national handball center in Vâlcea. Until 2013 Tănasie played for HC Zalău , with whom she reached the semifinals in the EHF Cup 2012/13 . She then moved to HCM Baia Mare , with whom she won the Romanian Championship and the Romanian Cup in 2014. In the 2014/15 season she played for SCM Craiova . Then she returned to Baia Mare. With the club she became Romanian cup winner and runner-up in 2016 and reached the quarter-finals of the EHF Champions League 2015/16 . Then Tănasie went to HC Dunărea Brăila . In January 2017 she signed a contract with HCM Râmnicu Vâlcea . For the 2018/19 season she returned to SCM Craiova. From summer 2019 she played for CS Măgura Cisnădie . A year later Tănasie joined the league rivals CS Minaur Baia Mare.

With the Romanian national handball team Tănasie won the bronze medal at the 2015 World Cup in Denmark. In 2016 she was nominated for the Olympic Games in Rio. Because of a rupture that she suffered in a friendly game in Norway shortly before the games, she missed participation.

In 2016, Tănasie's native city of Hunedoara made her the youngest honorary citizen to date.
