Ana Vela Rubio

Ana María Vela Rubio (born October 29, 1901 in Puente Genil ; † December 15, 2017 in Barcelona ) was a Spanish age record holder. She was officially recognized by the Gerontology Research Group as the oldest person in Spain, since the death of the Italian Emma Morano on April 15, 2017 as the oldest living person in Europe and since the death of the Jamaican Violet Brown on September 15, 2017, the third oldest living person in the world . In the list of the oldest people , she was 16th at the time of her death.

Life

Ana Vela was born in Andalusia and lived in Catalonia since the 1940s , where she worked as a tailor . She hardly had any health problems into old age. After breaking a thigh at the age of 109, her health deteriorated. She last lived in a retirement home , into which her 90-year-old daughter had also moved four months before her death.
