Anatoly Andreevich Kim ( Russian Анатолий Андреевич Ким , scientific transliteration Anatolij Andreevič Kim ; born June 15, 1939 in Sergijewka , Kazakh SSR ) is a Russian-speaking writer of Korean descent: The ancestors of his family emigrated from Korea to Russia in the middle of the 19th century and, like the entire Korean minority in Russia , were deported to Central Asia in 1937.
biography
Anatoly Kim was born on June 15, 1939 in Sergijewka ( South Kazakhstan Oblast ) as the son of a teacher. His parents returned to the Far East in 1948. The father died in the Korean War, the mother starved to death in the woods. The surviving child was taken in by Russian foster parents. Kim first studied at the Pamjati art school in 1905 goda in Moscow. In 1971 he completed his correspondence course at the Maxim Gorki Literature Institute . He worked as a crane operator, in a furniture factory, as a projectionist, designer, led prose seminars in the literature institute and temporarily taught in the South Korean capital, Seoul . Since 1996 he has been the editor-in-chief of the Yasnaya Polyana magazine . Kim began his writing career as a poet. His first short stories appeared in 1973.
Anatoly Kim was also relatively well known in the other republics of the former Soviet Union , and his works have been translated into several languages.
