André Geerts

André Geerts (born December 18, 1955 in Brussels , Belgium , † July 27, 2010 ) was a Belgian comic artist, author and cartoonist. He was best known for his comic series Jojo .

Life

After studying at the Institut Saint-Luc in Brussels , Geerts made his debut in 1974 with an article in the magazine Le Soir Jeunesse . For the Spirou magazine he drew the series La Petite Chronique Vénusienne from 1976 on the texts of Jean-Marie Brouyère . In 1982, Geerts began drawing cartoons , which were titled Bonjour, Monde Cruel and Bonsoir, Monde Cruel! In 1985 and 1997 . when books were published. In 1983 Geerts created the humorous series Jojo for Spirou , which he continued to draw until his death. By Jojo published during his lifetime Geerts 'seventeen albums in Dupuis , an eighteenth was only after Geerts' published death. Parallel to Jojo , Geerts drew the series Mademoiselle Louise from 1993 in collaboration with Sergio Salma , of which a total of four albums were published.

Geerts died of complications from cancer. He lived in Wemmel until his death .
