André Onkelinx

André Julien Berthe Onkelinx (born February 21, 1931 in Remicourt ) is a former Belgian diplomat .

Life

André Onkelinx is the son of Marie-Louise Lambermont and Albert Onkelinx. He studied political science, received a doctorate in law and worked as a lawyer in Liège from 1954 to 1958 .

After joining the diplomatic service in 1986, he was the representative of the Belgian government at the United Nations in Geneva . From January 8, 1987 to March 31, 1990 he was ambassador to Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo . From 1991 to 1998 he was ambassador to Rome and representative of the Belgian government to the World Food Organization (FAO).
