Luc Putman

Luc Putman ( 1927 - September 30, 2002 ) was a Belgian diplomat .

Life

From 1964 to 1968 Putman served at the Belgian royal court under King Baudouin . From 1970 Putman was the envoy and representative of the ambassador at the Belgian embassy in Germany with the official seat in Cologne. In 1983, Luc Putman was Secretary General of the Belgian Foreign Ministry.

During his tenure as ambassador to Kinshasa , Mobutu's security forces arrested Grégoire Dikonda wa Lumanyisha and the Belgian national Ronald Van den Bogaert on July 18, 1985 and sentenced him to ten years in prison. Putmann was then called to Brussels for consultations .
