André Reichardt

André Reichardt (born December 5, 1949 in Wissembourg ( Département Bas-Rhin )) is a French politician of the UMP and since September 14, 2009 President of the Regional Council of Alsace , based in Strasbourg .

He was elected mayor of Souffelweyersheim in the local elections in 1995 and was re-elected in 2001 and 2008 before handing over his seat to his deputy Patrick Kurtz when he was elected President of the Regional Council in 2009. He was already Vice-President of the Alsace Regional Council between 1998 and 2009 and he is also an advisor to the Strasbourg City Council . He has also been a party leader in his district since December 2008.
