André Samuel Dreiding

André Samuel Dreiding (born June 22, 1919 in Zurich ; † December 24, 2013 in Herrliberg ) was a Swiss chemist .

Dreiding received his doctorate in 1947 from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor with Werner Emmanuel Bachmann . From 1969 to 1987 he was Professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Zurich . His field of work was natural product chemistry . He made significant contributions to the structure elucidation and synthesis of betalain dyes.

In the 20th century, the Dreiding stereo models (molecular models) were widespread and were used in research and teaching to illustrate stereochemical analyzes or considerations of reaction mechanics.
