André Schmidt (born February 1, 1989 in Zeulenroda ) is a German football player .

Career

The defender started playing football at FSV Schleiz. In 2002 he left Schleiz and moved to the junior division of FC Carl Zeiss Jena . At the end of the 2007/08 season he moved up into the professional squad and made two appearances in the 2nd Bundesliga . After relegation to the third division , he could not prevail in the first team and was mainly used in the second team. At the beginning of the 2009/10 season, Schmidt moved back into the first team of FC Carl Zeiss Jena due to a number of injured defenders. Since the summer of 2011 he has been back in the reserve squad in the Oberliga NOFV-Süd . In the regional league season 2014/15 he came to further appearances in the first team.
