André Schuster (born September 29, 1975 ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

society

The midfielder took his first steps in German professional football in the 1994/95 second division for VfB Leipzig . The 18-year-old former DFB junior selection player made his debut in the second-highest division on August 24, 1994 in the 3-1 home win of Leipzig against Hannover 96 . In his first three seasons for VfB in the lower house, he made five league point games each time, so he did not make the leap to become a regular at this point.

Schuster moved from Saxony to Rot-Weiss Essen in the 2nd Bundesliga in autumn 1996 . The relegation in the lower house of licensed football did not succeed the newcomer with his teammates this season . The team had to be relegated as the penultimate and Schuster returned to Saxony in the summer of 1997, where he signed a contract with FSV Zwickau . Only one year after relegation with the Essenes, he also had to compete with the West Saxons in the then third-class regional league.

National team

With the German U-18 , the VfB player became vice European champion at the end of July 1994 . In the final against Portugal, which was lost on penalties, Schuster came on for Marco Küntzel nine minutes before the end of regular time. In the aftermath of the tournament, the kicker sports magazine wrote about the Leipziger: "He only slipped into the squad at the last moment and did his job as a substitute."
