Andrés Perelló de Segurola (born March 27, 1874 in Valencia , Spain , † January 23, 1953 in Barcelona ) was a Spanish opera singer ( bass ) and film actor.

Life

De Segurola came from a family of Spanish counts. He completed his vocal studies with Varvaro in Barcelona and made his debut there in 1898. After stints in Italy and France, he went to the Metropolitan Opera for a year in 1902. In 1903 he was at La Scala in Milan, in 1905 at the Havana Opera, in 1908 at the Manhattan Opera House in New York and again at the Met from 1909 to 1910 (inaugural role: “Alvise” in La Gioconda ). In addition, guest appearances took him all over the world. In 1931 he began working as a vocal teacher in Hollywood. He taught a. a. the actress and singer Deanna Durbin (for the film Three Sweet Girls ). The artist went blind towards the end of his life.
