Andrea Checchi

Andrea Checchi (born October 21, 1916 in Florence , † March 31, 1974 in Rome ) was an Italian actor .

Life

Checchi first began studying painting at the “Scuola di Belle Arti” in his hometown, in which he seemed to be following in the footsteps of his father Amedeo . At 18, however, he went to Rome and began training as an actor at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia . He had already made his first film before; The director was his teacher there, Alessandro Blasetti . Numerous smaller appearances during his training followed; then he developed into a popular actor in melodramas or strips with a heroic background in the cinema of the Mussolini era. In the 1960s there were more appearances on television, now also as character actors, as well as roles in commercially oriented genre works such as spaghetti westerns , war and horror films . His filmography includes around 175 titles.

Checchi was twice awarded a Nastro d'Argento , in 1946 as best leading actor for Due lettre anonime and in 1958 as best supporting actor for Mit Melon und Glacéhandschuhe .

In addition to acting, Checchi worked repeatedly as a painter, he had several exhibitions. He had several children with his wife, the Hungarian Erika Schwarze, who was married on October 20, 1938.
