Andrea Cupi (born January 27, 1976 in Frascati , Italy ) is an Italian football player . He has spent his entire professional career so far in Italy.
Career
Cupi began his career in 1994 with the Italian capital club AS Roma . In two years, however, the defensive player failed to recommend himself for the Serie A team. In the summer of 1996, Cupi moved to the lower class city competitor Cisco Calcio Roma . There he finally got his first professional assignments. after just one year, the defender moved to Carpi FC . At the Serie C club Cupi managed to become a regular player and showed good performances. Finally, he committed to the following season of FC Empoli , where he played first class in 1998/99 . With him, the Australian Vince Grella and the Uruguayan Marcelo Zalayeta were committed. Relegation was given as the goal. This did not make Empoli and as Table it went into the series B . Cupi remained loyal to the club and played for them until 2005. In the second Italian division, they tried steadily to achieve a promotion place in the following years. This only succeeded after the 2001/02 game year. With 13th place, the FCE secured relegation in the first year after their return, but in the summer of 2004 they returned to second division. Cupi stayed another season and achieved first place with his team in the final accounts, so the immediate promotion was made perfect. Because of his expiring contract, Cupi remained without a club from summer 2005 until December. It wasn't until the winter break that a contract was signed with SSC Napoli , which at that time was only third-rate. With the SSC , Cupi celebrated winning the C1 B series. Then the team made the breakthrough and rose directly to Serie A as second behind Juventus Turin . There the club qualified straight away for the UEFA Intertoto Cup 2008 . Cupi then transferred back to FC Empoli in the summer of that year, which was relegated to the second division in 2007/08. With rank 5, the team qualified for the play-offs round for a promotion place, which the team missed. Since the end of the 2009/11 season, Cupi is again without a club.
