Andreas Abouna
Andreas Abouna , also Andraos Abouna , (born March 23, 1943 in Bedare near Zaxo ; † July 27, 2010 in Erbil ) was auxiliary bishop in the Patriarchate of Babylon of the Chaldeans .
Life
Andreas Abouna (d'Beth Abuna) entered the St. Peter seminary in Mosul at the age of 14 and was ordained priest in the Chaldean rite on June 5, 1966 . He was pastor in the diocese of Basra in southern Iraq since 1967 . Since 1971 he has been pastor of Saint Joseph the Worker's Church in Baghdad. In 1989 Abouna became personal secretary to the Chaldean Catholic Patriarch of Baghdad, Raphael I. Bidawid . From 1991 to 2002 Abouna was in the London Borough of Ealing responsible for the Chaldean and Syrian Catholic missions in England.
Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Zenobias in 2002 and appointed him auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Baghdad , a Chaldean Catholic archdiocese that is united with the Roman Catholic Church and is based in Baghdad , Iraq . He was ordained bishop on January 6, 2003 in Rome by Pope John Paul II himself; Co-consecrators were the Archbishops of the Curia, Leonardo Sandri and Antonio Maria Vegliò .
Andreas Abouna died of kidney failure after a long illness. He was under the direction of Emmanuel III. Delly , the Patriarch of Babylon of the Chaldean Catholic Church, is buried in the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Ankawa , near Erbil.
