Andreas Anton Schmelzer

Andreas Anton Schmelzer (Schmeltzer) (also Andreas Anton Schmelzer von Ehrenruef; born November 26, 1653 in Vienna , † October 13, 1701 ibid) was an Austrian violinist and composer .

Schmelzer was one of the better known violinists in Austria. He was one of the three sons of Johann Heinrich Schmelzer who took up the profession of their famous father. In 1675 he was temporarily engaged to the prima donna Giulia Masotti , but ended this relationship for financial reasons.
