In August 2014, the Neue Zürcher Zeitung reported on the grievances in the asylum reception center in Traiskirchen and quoted Babler: “In view of 8.5 million inhabitants and well over 100 million overnight stays in the tourism sector, the number of 25,000 refugees is currently in the so-called basic services are low. In an interview, he explains that a drama is being held for political reasons. However, the camp in Traiskirchen is simply too big and the political agreement is being permanently broken. ”On May 30, 2015, he issued a fire police notice that the number of refugees in the Traiskirchen refugee camp had to be reduced to 1,400 within four days. criticism

Babler came under fire after the Lower Austrian FPÖ accused him in March 2016 of receiving a salary as an employee of the city of Traiskirchen in addition to his salary as mayor. Although this is legally acceptable, it is morally reprehensible. Then Babler gave up his job.
