Andreas Cellarius (theologian)
Andreas Cellarius also Andreas Keller (* 1503 in Rottenburg am Neckar , † September 18, 1562 in Wildberg ) was a German Protestant theologian and Württemberg reformer .
Live and act
Nothing is known about his career before his appearance as a preacher in his hometown in the spring of 1524. Since the country was occupied by Austrians, Cellarius in Württemberg was in danger. He went to Alsace . In Wasselnheim, near Strasbourg , he wrote his now-lost catechism "Report from the children of Wavelheim, question and answer". When the Reformation was carried out in Württemberg, Cellarius was brought to Wildberg (Black Forest) as a pastor .
The Strasbourgers wanted to bring him back in 1542, but the Württemberg Church would not let him go. In the following years his advice was needed on questions of the council, later also on the drafting of the Confessio Virtembergica of 1551. In addition to his pastoral ministry, he has dealt with translations in recent years.
