Andreas Dietz

Andreas Dietz (born November 25, 1962 in Darmstadt ) is a German doctor, professor and scientist. He is particularly involved in oncology .

Life

Andreas Dietz studied medicine at the Semmelweis University in Budapest , the Justus Liebig University in Giessen and the Ruprecht Karls University in Heidelberg . In 1991 he was with the work - at the University of Heidelberg "contribution to the identification of risk factors for the development of squamous cell carcinoma of the upper aerodigestive tract, an epidemiological case-control study" doctorate . He completed his habilitation in 2000 with the paper “Prognostic factors in primary radiochemotherapy of advanced head and neck tumors with special consideration of tumor cell cycle components and oxygenation” .

After various positions at Heidelberg University Hospital, Andreas Dietz was Director of the Oncology Section of the Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic at Heidelberg University from 1997 to 2002. The Oncology Section, founded in 1993, sees itself as an integrative center in the network of the Tumor Center Heidelberg / Mannheim , the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) and the neighboring university clinics . Andreas Dietz's research goal is to find answers to the problem of the immensely increasing number of tumors in the head and neck area. Dietz followed the call to the University of Leipzig in 2004 and became professor for ENT medicine and medical director of the ENT University Clinic in Leipzig.

Since 2010 Dietz has been a board member of the oncology working group of the German Society for Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery . He is active in numerous national and international bodies, including the German Cancer Society and board member of the Innovation Center for Computer Assisted Surgery ( ICCAS ) Leipzig. Since January 2005 election as medical examiner of the German Association of Larynxes . He is editor and editor of the journals “Laryngo-Rhino-Otologie” and “Frontiers in Oncology- Head and Neck Cancer”. Dietz has published over 300 scientific papers.
