Andreas Gold

Andreas Gold (* 1954 in Heidelberg ) is a German psychologist and professor of educational psychology .

Life

Andreas Gold attended school in Heidelberg and Bensheim / Bergstrasse . He then studied psychology from 1976 to 1982 at the University of Heidelberg . As a research assistant he worked at the Max Planck Institute for Psychological Research in Munich and at the Institute for Educational Psychology at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main .

In 1988 he was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD with a thesis on the subject of “Conditions for dropping out and academic success”. His habilitation in the subject of psychology took place in 1993 with the thesis "Memory Achievements in Older Age" (awarded the Willkomm Foundation prize for the best scientific habilitation at Goethe University).

From 1994 to 1998 he was Professor of Educational Psychology at the Ludwigsburg University of Education , and since 1998 he has been Professor of Educational Psychology at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main. Gold was Dean of the Department of Psychology and Sports Science from 2001 to 2003 . From 2003 to 2009 he was vice president of the university. From 2008 to 2014 he was deputy scientific director of the LOEWE Research Center for Individual Development and Learning Promotion ( Center for Research on Individual Development and Adaptive Education of Children at Risk , IDeA).

Focus

Gold's areas of research are teaching-learning research and research into the effectiveness of educational interventions. He works on projects to promote reading strategies and reading skills and to identify the cause of and intervention in the event of learning difficulties.
