particularities

The ICAO code is EHHO

The airport's continued existence hung by a thread in 2002 and 2003. The long lease expires in 2013 and the city council discussed at length whether the airport should continue to exist after 2013. Proponents noted that the airport was one of the few grass runways in the area and that the airport had a positive impact on tourism. The group of opponents at the airport consisted mainly of residents of houses near the airport who had complained about the noise. Relocation of the airport was also discussed, but it turned out to be impractical. Finally, the lease was extended, but at conditions close to the market and not, as before, for a symbolic lease. At the end of 2014, the foundation board resigned in protest against the amount of the rent.
