use
Vlieland Heliport was used for Search and Rescue (SAR) rescue flights. Helicopters of the type Agusta AB 412 from the search and rescue squadron 303 of the Koninklijke Luchtmacht were used . The base of the squadron was the Leeuwarden military airfield .
The helicopters were used for search and rescue teams of military aircraft in emergency operations, for the transport of patients from the Dutch Wadden Islands to hospitals on the mainland and for rescue operations by the rescue station .
In 2016, Search and Rescue Squadron 303 was disbanded, but the helipad remained under military control. Since then, patient transports have been carried out by ANWB Medical Air Assistance with an Airbus Helicopters H145 .
