Andreas Hägele (born October 30, 1960 in Esslingen am Neckar ; † July 6, 2018 there ) was a German football player and coach .

Athletic career

Andreas Hägele started playing football at TSV Wäldenbronn-Esslingen and then switched to the youth team of the Stuttgarter Kickers . There he was German A youth champion in the 1978/79 season . His teammates included Joachim Müller , Peter Schulz , Zvonko Kurbos , Wolfgang Dienelt and the later world champion Guido Buchwald .

In the following years he played, among others with his brother Martin in the amateur team of the Stuttgarter Kickers . On May 11, 1985 he made his debut in the professional team in the 3-0 home win of the Kickers against FC St. Pauli . After two seasons in the first team, Hägele moved to 1. FSV Mainz 05 in the Oberliga Südwest and was then still active for his home club TSV Wäldenbronn-Esslingen.

After his career as a player, he worked as a coach for various amateur teams in the greater Stuttgart area.

Hägele died of lung cancer at the age of 57 . He left a son.
