Andreas Hupke
Andreas Hupke (born January 12, 1950 in Monschau ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ). Since 2004 he has been the district mayor of the inner city of Cologne , representing the interests of around 130,000 people in Cologne .
Andreas Hupke was born the sixth of eight children and grew up in Kalterherberg . As devout Protestants and refugees from Pomerania, his parents were outsiders in a small, purely Catholic Eifel community. After leaving school, he first trained as a dairy specialist . In 1973 he moved to Cologne to do his Abitur on the second educational path at the Cologne College . He then studied law , but did not finish his studies. He later became a stage worker at the stages of the city of Cologne . Until his retirement (2015) he represented as a Staff Council Chairman the department of art and culture in the General Staff of the City of Cologne.
Hupke was politicized, among other things, by the Stollwerck occupation and by the successful initiative against a planned Cologne city motorway . Since 1996 he has been a member of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen , since 1999 a member of the city center district council and since 2004 “City Mayor”. In his first candidacy, his party Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen received 30.8 percent of the vote, and in his second candidacy ( 2009 ) 37.7 percent. This makes it the largest parliamentary group in the district council. In 2009 Andreas Hupke was re-elected with the votes of all parliamentary groups, with one abstention. In 2014, Hupke received 18 out of a total of 19 votes because a Green representative was unable to attend.
Andreas Hupke is volunteer as chairman of the supporting association KUMBIG eV for KIK - Cologne Institute for Cultural Work and Further Education , KUM & LUK - Art and Media, Life and Culture (until December 30, 2019) and the Cologne Youth Art School, which exists until 2015 , as chairman of the city partnership Cologne - Liverpool eV and as patron of ArtAsyl eV
