Andreas Janko

Andreas Janko (born October 3, 1965 in Linz , Upper Austria ) is an Austrian lawyer and professor of public law at the Johannes Kepler University (JKU) Linz . He is director of the Institute for Constitutional Law and Political Science and head of the Department for State Organization Law and State Finance Law. Since October 1, 2015, he has been Vice Rector for Teaching at the Johannes Kepler University (JKU) Linz .

Life

After graduation in 1983, Andreas Janko studied law at the JKU, where he sponded in 1988 and obtained his doctorate in 1992 . After several years as a university assistant at the Institute for Constitutional Law and Political Science at the JKU and a 14-month internship at the constitutional service of the Upper Austrian Office. In 2002, the state government granted him the license to teach as a university lecturer in public law based on a habilitation thesis on the subject of “General amendments to the Federal Constitution” (from this point on, a.Univ.Prof.). Two years later he was appointed university professor for public law (successor to Prof. Schambeck). Andreas Janko has headed the Institute for Constitutional Law and Political Science at the JKU since 2008, where he heads the Department for State Organization and State Finance Law, which was founded in 2009.

In addition to his actual research and teaching activities, Andreas Janko is often called upon by non-university institutions as an expert in solving public law issues. His expertise in connection with

  • the National Council's committees of inquiry into Eurofighter procurement, clarification of events in the Federal Ministry of the Interior and, most recently, the so-called "spy affair";
  • the committee of inquiry of the Styrian. Landtag in the EStAG affair;
  • the dispute between the FPÖ and the BZÖ over representation in the federal electoral authority in the run-up to the 2006 National Council election;
  • the exclusion of the NVP from participating in the Upper Austria. State election 2009;
  • the review of the "Causa Herberstein" by the Styria. State Audit Office and the "Salzburg Winter Games 2010 GmbH" by the Sbg. State Audit Office; or recently about
  • the question of the permissibility of the conversion of the so-called "Villa Trapp" in Salzburg / Aigen into a hotel pension under building and regional planning law.
