Andreas Jordi

Andreas Jordi (born October 10, 1961 in Affoltern am Albis ) is a Swiss painter .

Life

Andreas Jordi grew up in Knonau in his parents' inn. At the age of 15, the football-crazy boy from FC Affoltern was considered to be the greatest hope for young Swiss talent. At 18, Jordi hung up his soccer shoes. He initially earned money as a sporting goods seller, car dealer, night watchman and barman for a living. At the age of 30, Jordi found his calling and followed in the footsteps of his father Gottfried Jordi, who was a painter, musician and poet. Andreas Jordi started his career as a contemporary artist as an autodidact.

Andreas Jordi first became known outside his home country when the Swiss Embassy in Berlin commissioned him in 2002 and 2003 to design the United Buddy Bear for Switzerland. In his works, Jordi repeatedly takes up the subject of football, for example on the occasion of the 2006 World Cup and 2010.

Jordi paints pictures in all facets. So he "paints over" the most expensive wine labels for the "world of wine". «Each of these colorful pictures is an expression of joie de vivre. In the art scene, Jordi is referred to as "the one who dances with colors" » .

Since the early 2000s, Jordi has had exhibitions in Barcelona , Berlin , Bern , Charleston (USA), Dresden , Geneva , London , Mallorca , New York City , San Francisco , Zurich .
