Andreas Köll (born June 21, 1960 in Matrei in Osttirol ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). From 2001 to 2013 he was a member of the Tyrolean state parliament and from 2013 to 2018 a member of the Austrian Federal Council. From 2009 to 2014 he was regional chairman of the Tyrolean workers' union (AAB Tirol).

education and profession

Andreas Köll attended elementary school in Matrei and then switched to the modern language high school in Lienz , where he passed his Matura in 1979. Köll then did his military service as a one-year volunteer and completed training as a militia officer in East Tyrol and at the military sports and hand-to-hand combat school in Wiener Neustadt . In addition to his job, Köll studied law and political science at the University of Innsbruck . He completed his law studies in 1987 with a graduation and in 1989 with a doctorate.

From 1983 to 1987 Köll worked as an educator at the Tyrolean hotel management school Villa Blanka in Innsbruck. After his graduation, he completed his internship at the Matrei District Court and Innsbruck Regional Court between 1987 and 1988. From 1988 to 1989 he was a journalist for the Osttirol Journal. Since 1989 Köll has been the managing director of Matreier Goldried Bergbahnen GmbH & Co. KG. He was also chairman of the ARGE of the Osttiroler Bergbahnen and representative of Osttirol in the professional association of cable cars in the Tyrol Chamber of Commerce.

Andreas Köll entered politics in 1986 as a councilor in Matrei in East Tyrol. He was elected mayor as early as 1989. Köll has been a member of the ÖAAB since 1989 and was elected regional chairman of the AAB Tirol in 1992. From 1997 to 2010 he was and since 2014 he has also been district chairman of the AAB Lienz. The mayor of Matrei was elected chairman of the Lienz district hospital in 2000. From 2001 to 2010 Köll was also district party chairman of VP Lienz. On October 1, 2001, he succeeded Helmut Krieghofer as a member of the Tyrolean state parliament. Since then he has been a member of several committees and chairman of the committee for society, education, culture and sport as well as health spokesman for VP Tyrol. Köll is running in the state elections in 2003 , 2008 and 2013 as the top candidate of the ÖVP on the district nomination of the Lienz district.

On November 14th, 2009, Andreas Köll was elected to succeed Governor Günther Platter as Chairman of the Tyrolean Employees' Union (AAB Tirol) at the state parliament in Schwaz with 93.05% of the delegate's votes.

In the Tyrolean state parliament elections in 2013, he did not succeed in returning to the Tyrolean state parliament. From May 2013 to March 2018, Köll was a member of the Federal Council, and in March 2014 he was succeeded by Beate Palfrader as regional chairwoman of the AAB-Tirol. Andreas Köll has meanwhile been re-elected district chairman of the AAB Lienz. After the state elections in Tyrol in 2018 , he left the Federal Council.

Private

Andreas Köll is married and has one daughter.
