Andreas Kühn (clergyman)

Andreas Kühn (born May 29, 1624 in Dresden , Electorate of Saxony ; † September 30, 1702 in Danzig , Polish-Prussia ) was a Lutheran theologian. He was superintendent in Herzberg , Bischofswerda and Annaberg , as well as senior of the spiritual ministry in Gdansk.

Life

The father Lucas Kuhn was a businessman in Dresden, the mother was Margaretha Graupner. Andreas Kühn attended the Princely School in Meißen in 1633 and studied Protestant theology in Wittenberg in 1637 . In 1638 he earned the degree of master's degree . From 1642 to 1646 Kühn was at the University of Strasbourg .

In 1649 he was appointed superintendent in Herzberg in the Electorate of Saxony. The following year he received a degree in theology and a doctorate in 1651. Since 1660 Andreas Kühn was superintendent in Bischofswerda and since 1675 in Annaberg.

In 1685 he was appointed senior minister of the clergy (first pastor) in Danzig and pastor of St. Mary's Church . In addition, he supervised the Academic Gymnasium Danzig as part of his office.

Andreas Kühn published a number of theological writings that deal critically with Roman Catholic, Reformed (Calvinist) or Pietist theological views.

He had at least two sons and a daughter.
