Andreas Kopp

Andreas Kopp (* 1959 in Amsterdam , Holland ) is a German-Dutch painter. He has been exhibiting worldwide since 1991. Kopp prefers sheet iron in the format of 50 x 37 cm as a background for his pictures , which he scratches, sprayed with industrial paint or decorated with gold leaf and rust.

biography

Born in Amsterdam in 1959 as the son of a German and a Dutch woman, Kopp was based in the cities of The Hague, Cologne, Hamburg and Berlin. He studied as a special talent from 1977 to 1982 at the Art Academy in Düsseldorf and has exhibited in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Japan and the USA since 1991. In 1992 he was awarded the Ernst Barlach Prize . In 1990, Kopp designed the cover of the double LP Auf dem Kreuzzug ins Glück from the band Die Toten Hosen and received a gold record for this .

As a freelance artist, Kopp received public commissions several times and was able to incorporate his work into the interior design of various buildings. For example, he designed the foyer of the Kölnarena or the hall of the technical town hall in Cologne. He furnished the lunge at the Berlin art fair 2007 with 215 pictures, each 20 × 30 cm in size. His 847-part installation The Unknown Broker was exhibited all over Europe and parts of it were purchased by the Berlin Association of German Banks . At the beginning of 2012 Kopp's ten-meter-high light sculpture called The Marker Tree was realized on the motorway slip road in Kingswood near Dublin. In 2013, Andreas Kopp co-founded the St. Moritz Art Academy Foundation
