Andreas Lang (politician)

Andreas Lang (born October 30, 1896 in Burggen ; † November 28, 1948 in Augsburg) was a co-founder of the Christian Social Union (CSU) and a member of the Bavarian state parliament .

Life

Andreas Lang grew up on his parents' farm and worked there. From 1914 to 1918 he took part in the First World War. After the end of the war he worked in various farms. In 1924 he took over his father's property. Between 1920 and 1945 he also worked for the Raiffeisenkasse Burggen. As a director of a milk processing cooperative, he was the owner of a new dairy in 1929. He was a member of the Bavarian People's Party (BVP) and its last district chairman. 1932 candidate for the Reichstag election and until 1934 district councilor in Schongau. 1933 Chairman of the BVP in the Schongau district. From June 28, 1933 to July 5, 1933 he was in protective custody in Kaufbeuren in connection with the NSDAP's action against the Bavarian People's Party (BVP) .

After the Second World War he was mayor of his home parish from 1945 to 1948. He was first used by the Americans, later in the first free local elections after the Nazi era by the Burggener. He became the first chairman of the CSU in Burggen, which was founded on November 1, 1945. His deputy in the local association was Franz Josef Strauss . In addition, Lang took over the office of deputy district administrator a short time later. At the time, the district administrator of Schongau was his party friend Franz Josef Strauss.

Lang was from December 16, 1946 to November 28, 1948 a member of the Bavarian State Parliament for the constituencies of Schongau and Starnberg . There he was on the admissions committee of the milk and fat industry association and the chairman of the peat industry council. He was a member of the examination committee for the examination of the objections according to Art. 6 of the law on settlement and land reform, of the committee for food and agriculture as well as a member of the remuneration committee.

Lang died suddenly in November 1948. He was buried in Burggen. In addition to the speaker Franz Josef Strauss, the then Minister of Education, Alois Hundhammer , also took part in the funeral service . As District Administrator, Franz Josef Strauss wrote in an obituary notice: “The District Administrator thanks him for the tireless work since the day of the collapse in fulfilling his duties beyond his strength, that he worked selflessly and energetically in the reconstruction and made himself available unselfishly for all tasks . He was married and had 8 children.
