Andreas Lembke

Andreas Lembke (born January 22, 1911 in Bannesdorf on Fehmarn ; † May 14, 2002 in Eutin ) was a German microbiologist and university professor.

Life

Andreas Lembke studied biology at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel , where he became a member of the Corps Alemannia. After obtaining a Dr. phil. After receiving his doctorate, he moved to the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster as a scientific assistant for biology . In 1935 he returned to Kiel as a senior assistant for microbiology in the Hygiene Institute of the Medical Faculty. In 1938 he became director of the Bacteriological Institute of what later became the Federal Institute for Milk Research , which he headed until 1975. After his habilitation in microbiology in 1939, he also became a private lecturer in microbiology at the Hygiene Institute of the Medical Faculty of Kiel University. In 1942 he was promoted to Dr. med. PhD. In 1943 he completed his habilitation in medicine. In 1944 he also became director and scientific member of the Institute for Virus Research and Experimental Medicine in Sielbeck near Eutin, which he headed until 1985. In 1945 he taught nutritional physiology, microbiology and virus research as an adjunct professor, from 1953 to 1965 as a private lecturer in virus research and microbiology and from 1965 to 1975 as an extraordinary professor in microbiology, virus research and nutritional physiology at the Hygiene Institute of the Medical Faculty in Kiel.

Lembke's scientific focus was on bacteriology, parasitology, virus research, immunobiology, serology and nutritional science. He was the author of numerous scientific articles. From 1938 to 1975 he was co-editor of the milk science research reports in Kiel and from 1964 to 1975 of the journal Milchwissenschaft - Milk Science International: journal for nutritional research and food science .
