Andreas Nehring

Andreas Nehring (* 1957 in Braunschweig ) is a German Protestant theologian.

Life

From 1979 to 1985 he studied theology with a focus on religious studies and religious history in Neuendettelsau , Hamburg , Bangalore and Heidelberg . In January 1985 he passed the first theological exam in Braunschweig and then the vicariate . From April 1986 to May 1987 he conducted research in Tokyo . In January 1988 he passed the second theological exam. After completing his doctorate in Mission and Religious Studies at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg in July 1991, he taught from March 1993 to April 1997 as a lecturer in religious studies in Chennai . From October 1997 to September 2005 he was an assistant at the Augustana University in Neuendettelsau , specializing in religious studies and missiology. After completing his habilitation in this subject in June 2001 with a thesis on religious studies, he represented a chair at the University of Hamburg from October 2005 to April 2006 . Since April 2006 he has held the chair for religious studies and missiology at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. From October 2013 to September 2014 he was a fellow at the International College for Research in the Humanities: “Fate, Freedom and Prediction” at FAU. In 2014 and 2017 he taught in Salzburg as a visiting professor .
