Andreas Omminger (born January 11, 1983 in Innsbruck ) is a former Austrian ski racer and today's trainer . His specialty was slalom .

biography

Omminger graduated from the Stams ski school and started for SV Navis . Since 2000 he was in the squad of the Austrian Ski Association (ÖSV). He started an FIS race for the first time in November 1998, and since January 2002 he has also competed regularly in the European Cup . At the Junior World Championships in 2003 he reached seventh place in slalom and 13th place in giant slalom. The 2004/05 European Cup season was the most successful for Omminger. With three podium places he reached 3rd place in the slalom discipline ranking and had a fixed starting place for the next World Cup season. His best result in the World Cup was 13th place in the Adelboden slalom on January 8, 2006.

The 2006/07 season was marked by injuries: In September, Omminger tore all the ligaments in his right ankle and after persistent back problems he had to undergo surgery on the intervertebral discs in February. In the World Cup seasons 2007/08 and 2008/09 he was only able to score in two races. In the 2009/10 season he was only used in two World Cup races in which he did not reach the second round. At the beginning of February 2010 he ended his active career as a ski racer.

Omminger switched to the coaches and looked after the Bavarian national team for women in the 2010/11 season. In the 2011/12 season he is the head trainer of the women's training group IIb of the German Ski Association .
