Andreas Philipp Oettner

Andreas Philipp Oettner (born 1735 presumably in Vienna or Saxony; died 1792 in Vienna ) was a porcelain painter who worked in various factories, among others in Ludwigsburg , Frankenthal , Fürstenberg , Höchst and Vienna . Works on porcelain from Meissen and Weesp and Loosdrecht in the Netherlands are also attributed to him.

As a painter, Oettner dealt with the subjects of Watteau and the Commedia dell'arte , but also chinoiserie , landscapes, flowers and battle scenes. Before 1756 he is said to have worked in a Viennese porcelain factory, he then came to Nymphenburg in 1756/57 , where he painted floral decorations or scenes from the Commedia dell'arte.

Oettner worked briefly in the porcelain manufactory in Frankenthal in 1759 and from 1759 to 1763 in Ludwigsburg, then in the years 1763 to 1766 in the Höchst manufactory and came to Fürstenberg on February 11, 1767 as a porcelain painter. At the turn of the year 1770/1771 he made his way back to Vienna, where he worked from 1783 until his death in 1792. His works included decors on tobacco boxes or crockery such as milk jugs, tea or coffee services, plates and cups.
