Andreas Primus

Andreas Primus (born January 14, 1782 in Babenhausen ; † November 6, 1849 ibid) was a doctor of the German surgeon , obstetrician , princely physician and court physician as well as councilor .

Life

Andreas Primus was the fourth child of the carpenter Kajetan Maximilian Primus (1746–1788) and his wife, the Kramer daughter Maria Franziska, née. Schellhorn (1754–1810) born in Babenhausen. His grandfather Johann Baptist Primus (1709–1788) came from the Venetian town of Timau and settled as a trader in the Upper Swabian vineyard .

Primus, who achieved a doctorate, was a respondent at the University of Würzburg in 1819 . He established himself as a general practitioner in his hometown of Babenhausen and made a name for himself there as a skilled surgeon, wound healer and obstetrician. In 1821 a report appeared on his observation of a new approach to healing nasal polyps through the external application of the tincture Opii crocata , and in 1833 a report on his obstetrical observations in the Medicinisch-Chirurgische Zeitung . In 1832 Primus received the position of physicist as a general practitioner and consequently took over the function of the privileged official, court and personal physician of Prince Fugger-Babenhausen . In 1837 he was appointed Princely Court Counselor by King Ludwig I in view of his many years of service. It is possible that he was also a co-founder of the Babenhausen Liedertafel in 1844. Primus died in Babenhausen in 1849 at the age of 67 and is buried there in the cemetery. There is a special obituary notice from him.
