Andreas Scherber

Andreas Scherber (born July 9, 1893 in Lauf an der Pegnitz ; † May 12, 1974 there ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

Scherber trained as a carpenter and attended a construction school in Nuremberg . He was a pioneer in France during World War I before he was captured by the British for three and a half years in 1916. After his release he returned home and worked there as a carpenter foreman for his master. In 1933 he was interned in the Dachau concentration camp .

Scherber, who joined the SPD in 1913, became a member of the Laufer city council in 1924, in which he was later also group chairman. In 1928 he was elected to the Laufer District Assembly and the District Assembly of Middle Franconia . From 1946 to 1948 he was mayor of Lauf an der Pegnitz, from 1950 he was again a member of the district council. In 1946 he was elected to the Bavarian State Parliament via the Middle Franconia constituency list. In the subsequent elections he won the direct mandate in the district of Hersbruck - Lauf an der Pegnitz , so that he was a member of the state parliament until 1966.

On December 15, 1959, he was awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit.
