Andreas Schulz (born March 3, 1955 in Munich ) is a German rally co-driver .

The master mechanic was a co-driver in the German Rally Championship from 1976 to 1979 . In 1982 he worked as a mechanic for Walter Röhrl . Four years later he drove in a service truck in the Dakar Rally . From 1989 to 1991 he was Carlos Sainz's technician for the World Rally Championship .

In 1990 Schulz entered the rally raid sport as a navigator and has since contested the Dakar rally continuously . In 1994 he started working with Hiroshi Masuoka on the Mitsubishi factory team. A year later, the team finished the Dakar Rally in tenth place and also did very well in the UAE Desert Challenge with fourth place. In 2000 Schulz became co-driver of Jutta Kleinschmidt and in 2001 won the Dakar Rally with her. In 2003 he drove back to Masuoka's side and guided him to victory. A year later, Schulz drove alongside Andrea Mayer and achieved fifth place in the Dakar Rally and second place in Baja Germany . In 2005 he was able to win the UAE Desert Challenge for the first time, this time again with Masuoka. At the Dakar Rally, however, they retired with engine failure.

After the 2005 season, Schulz moved to Volkswagen Motorsport and became co-driver of Carlos Sainz, for whom he had worked as a mechanic 16 years earlier. At the 2006 Dakar Rally, the team in the VW Race Touareg finished eleventh overall and achieved four stage wins. In the meantime, they led the overall standings for four days. For the 2007 season, Schulz switched to the Volkswagen customer team in Lagos , where he is the co-driver of the Portuguese Carlos Sousa . They finished the Orpi Morocco Rally in third place and Baja Spain in second. At the 2007 Dakar Rally , the team won the first stage. In the overall standings, however, they only finished seventh, as they had lost over two hours on the seventh stage because of disagreements between them. After they got their stuck vehicle out of the sand, Sousa drove on to find a safe place to stop. He had to cross the dune because another vehicle was already on it. Schulz lost sight of him in the process and took over 90 minutes to find Sousa. They finished the Central Europe Rally in fifth place.

With two overall victories in the Dakar Rally, Andreas Schulz is the most successful German Dakar participant.
