Andrew's son
Andreas Sohn (born March 15, 1959 in Dortmund ) is a German historian .
Andreas Sohn studied history, Catholic theology and education at the Universities of Münster and Poitiers . In 1988 he received his doctorate in Münster with a thesis on the history of the Cluniacens monastery association. Since 1989 his son was a research assistant at the German Historical Institute in Rome . In 1995 he completed his habilitation in Münster. During his studies, son was particularly influenced by Joachim Wollasch . Wollasch aroused his interest in monastic and French history and led him to a doctorate and habilitation. Since 1995, Sohn has been working as a private lecturer in Münster . In 1997/98 his son was visiting professor at the University of Graz , in 1999 visiting professor at the École pratique des hautes études and again visiting professor in Graz in 2000/01. Sohn has been teaching and researching as Professor of Medieval History at the University of Paris XIII since 2001 . From 2002 to 2010 he was Deputy Director of the Center de Recherches sur les Espaces, les Sociétés et les Cultures . Son has been appointed director of the Center de Recherches sur les Espaces, les Sociétés et les Cultures.
His teaching and research focuses on the urban, church, cultural and social history of Europe, especially France, Italy and Germany. He published on Paris, orders and monasteries, on the papacy, on the genesis of residences and on historiography in Europe.
