Andreas Steier
Andreas Steier (born January 7, 1972 in Trier ) is a CDU politician . In the 2017 Bundestag election , he won a direct seat in the Trier constituency (203) with 37.9%.
Life
After graduating from high school at what was then Hindenburg-Gymnasium Trier in 1991, Steier completed his military service in the armed forces . He then studied mechanical engineering at the University of Kaiserslautern from 1992 and graduated in 1998 with a degree in engineering. He then worked for the sensor technology company IEE in Luxembourg until his Bundestag mandate . Andreas Steier holds several patents on various developments.
Steier is married and has three children. The family lives in Pellingen .
politics
Politically, he began to work as a local politician in the CDU and was elected to the Trier-Saarburg district council for the first time in 2004. He was also involved in the associations of the CDU such as the Junge Union and the Mittelstandsvereinigung .
In the 2017 federal election, Steier won the direct mandate in the Trier constituency against, among others, the SPD candidate Katarina Barley , at that time Federal Minister for Family, Seniors, Women and Youth .
Steier is a full member of the Committee for Education, Research and Technology Assessment , rapporteur for Artificial Intelligence in the CDU / CSU parliamentary group in the German Bundestag and a member of the Artificial Intelligence Enquete Commission . He is also a deputy member of the Committee for Economic Affairs and Energy and the Petitions Committee of the German Bundestag .
At the municipal level, Andreas Steier is a member of the district council in the Trier-Saarburg district in the 2019–2024 election period.

Steier is chairman of the CDU community association Konz and the district association Trier of the medium-sized and business association of the CDU / CSU . He is also a member of the Atlantik-Brücke e. V., the Carnival Society Pellinger Krääscherten 1996 e. V., in the Saarburger Förderverein St. Franziskus Krankenhaus und Seniorenzentrum e. V. and in the Turngemeinde Konz 1885 e. V.
