from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Andreas von Schönberg (* 1565 or 1566 on the Neusorge manor , south of Mittweida , Electorate of Saxony ; † January 31, 1587 on the Linz manor near Grossenhain , Electorate of Saxony ) was an electoral Saxon feudal man .

Life

The son of Wolf von Schönberg and Brigitte von Pflug enrolled at the University of Wittenberg in 1582 . Just two years later, in 1584, his mother wrote to the Elector August that her son was “ fluent in the Latin and Bohemian languages” and wanted to go to foreign countries. She asked him for a recommendation to Duke Karl Emanuel I of Savoy so that he could accept him as a court servant. What happened next is not recorded.

On August 10, 1586, the now 20-year-old received his father's fief, valued at 40,000 guilders , for new care. On January 30, 1587, Schönberg received an invitation to the wedding celebration of Christoph von Polentz (before 1574-1618) at his manor in Linz near Großenhain in Saxony. There was a dispute between Schönberg and his relative Heinrich von Lüttichau , who was also a guest at this celebration. Schönberg challenged Lüttichau to a duel. Schönberg was defeated in the battle and was on February 8, 1587 in the church in Frankenberg / Sa. buried. The inscription on the tombstone reads:

"ANNO 1587 THE 31st
IANVARI ZV ABENT BETWEEN
7 VND 8 IS THE PREVENTION OF THE EDELE
GESTRENG VND ERNVESTE ANDREAS VON SCHONBERG ZV LINZ
