Joachim Seyffarth

Joachim Seyffarth (born December 28, 1928 in Chemnitz , † December 10, 2014 in Mühlbach ) was a German homeland researcher , monument conservator and photographer .

Life

The engineer Seyffarth has been concerned with the regional history of the Ore Mountains and the city of Chemnitz since his youth . From 1963 he published numerous articles in the local press and in regional periodicals. Together with his wife, the photographer Edith Seyffarth (* 1932), he achieved lasting merits in the search for Greifenstein Castle and the reconstruction of the mechanical workshop of the Frohnau hammer . Many of his publications were thematically under the motto: "Stories about forgotten monuments", which was also the title of his six-volume main work. Since 1998 he has been a member of the editorial board of the Erzgebirgische Heimatblätter , in which he published regularly. Seyffarth lived in Frankenberg / Sa.

Between 1991 and his retirement, he played a key role in founding the Chemnitz Industrial Museum as part of the development staff. Before that, he worked as an expert in the history of technology at the research center for machine tool construction in Karl-Marx-Stadt . He had in 2001 when his archive to the industrial history of the region with about 600 units of photos and drawings premature legacy handed over to the Museum of Industry Chemnitz.
