history

The forest hoof village Mühlbach was first mentioned in 1378 as Molbach , which means settlement on a brook with a mill. It is probably about the settlement of the corridor of an older deserted village. This is indicated by a field name Wüstung , which describes a large part of the central village. Ecclesiastically, the place has always been part of Frankenberg.

With regard to the manorial rule, Mühlbach was under the Sachsenburg Castle after 1551 , which was owned by the Lords of Schönberg . In 1610 Mühlbach came with the Sachsenburg office, which was created through the division of inheritance, through the sale of the Lords of Schönberg to the Saxon Elector Johann Georg I. In 1633 the offices of Frankenberg and Sachsenburg were combined to form the Frankenberg-Sachsenburg office . Mühlbach was run as an administrative village in 1764 .

Until 1856, Mühlbach belonged to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Frankenberg-Sachsenburg . From 1856 the place belonged to the Frankenberg court office and from 1875 to the Flöha district administration .

With the second district reform in the GDR , the municipality of Mühlbach became part of the Flöha district in the Chemnitz district in 1952 (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ). The place Hausdorf came to Mühlbach on January 1st, 1974. After 1990 a new residential area with one or two family houses was built along the “Mühlbergring”. The population of Hausdorf / Mühlbach rose to a total of 2021 (as of the end of 2007). The municipality of Mühlbach with its district of Hausdorf belonged to the Saxon district of Flöha from 1990 onwards . In the course of the first district reform in Saxony in 1994 , the community of Mühlbach came to the district of Mittweida , which was added to the district of central Saxony in 2008.

On January 1, 1998, Mühlbach and Hausdorf were incorporated into Frankenberg. Since then, Mühlbach and Hausdorf have formed the district of Mühlbach / Hausdorf.
