Ev.-luth. Langenstriegis Church

Langenstriegis was founded around 1150 by immigrant Franconian farmers. Initially the farming village was a fiefdom of the Hersfeld monastery , later it was transferred to Altenburg as a fiefdom , then to the knight family von Bor .

A document from March 28, 1282 shows that the upper half of the village Striguz Arnold, Knight of Bor, donated the patronage rights over the church to the Altzella monastery , and sold the lower half to a Meissen citizen. This is the first written mention of Langenstriegis. After the secularization of the Altzella monastery property in 1540, the place came to the newly established Wettin office of Nossen . During the Thirty Years War , most of the houses and farms in Langenstriegis were burned down. Mining was carried out on site in the 17th century . Today there are still some remaining holes from the quarries that were once operated. Above all, the mineral wavellite , whose special form was also known as "Striegisan" on site , was mined .

A school building was built in 1835, around this time the town probably had around 800 inhabitants due to mining. Langenstriegis belonged to the Electoral Saxon and Royal Saxon Office of Nossen until 1856 as an official village . From 1856 Langenstriegis belonged to the Hainichen court office and from 1875 to the Döbeln district administration , which was renamed the Döbeln district in 1939.

With the first district reform in the GDR, the municipality of Langenstriegis came to the district of Flöha in 1950 . As a result of the second district reform in the GDR, it was assigned to the newly founded district of Hainichen in the Chemnitz district in 1952 (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ). Since 1990, the community of Langenstriegis has belonged to the Saxon district of Hainichen , which was added to the district of Mittweida in 1994 and in 2008 to the district of central Saxony. On March 1, 1994, Langenstriegis was incorporated into Frankenberg.
