history

The district of Hainichen was created on May 17, 1990 by renaming due to a law from the district of Hainichen . Only the municipality of Beerwalde left the district of Rochlitz by merging with the municipalities of Crossen bei Mittweida , Erlau and Schweikershain to form the new municipality of Erlau in the Rochlitz district on March 1, 1994. During the district reform on August 1, 1994 , the district was completely incorporated into the new Mittweida district .

The Striegis and Zschopau rivers flow through the district and are dammed up in the Kriebstein dam.
