history

Moosheim was mentioned in 1350 as "Mosheym". The place initially belonged to the district of Döbeln Castle , but the area around it belonged to the Altzella monastery (later the Nossen office ). In 1543, Duke Moritz sold the Vorwerk and village of Grünberg, which belonged to the secularized Döbeln monastery , along with Höckendorf , Meinsberg and Moosheim, including the Nonnenwald, to Georg von Carlowitz (1544–1550), the new owner of the Kriebstein estate . Since then, Kriebstein Castle has ruled Moosheim . In 1588, the Saxon elector Christian I acquired the Carlowitz property of the former Kriebstein rule and integrated them into the Rochlitz office . Thus, until 1856, Moosheim belonged to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Rochlitz as an exclave in the Nossen office. The offices were dissolved during the administrative reforms carried out in the Kingdom of Saxony in the 19th century . As a result, Moosheim came under the administration of the Roßwein court office in 1856 and in 1875 under the newly established Döbeln administrative authority .

As a result of the second district reform in the GDR in 1952, Moosheim was incorporated into the Hainichen district in the Chemnitz district (renamed Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which was continued as the Saxon Hainichen district from 1990 and was assigned to the newly formed Mittweida district in 1994 . On January 1, 1994 Moosheim was incorporated into the community of Rossau. Since 2008, the community of Rossau and its districts have been part of the newly formed district of central Saxony.
