Niederrossau is a district of the municipality of Rossau in the district of central Saxony (Free State of Saxony ). On July 1, 1950, it was merged with Weinsdorf and Oberrossau to form the community of Rossau. The municipal office of the municipality of Rossau is located in Niederrossau.

Geographical location and traffic
Niederrossau forms the north-western part of the town of Rossau, which has grown together structurally. The Auenbach flowing through the village flows into the Zschopau . Niederrossau is located northwest of the “Hainichen” junction of the federal motorway 4 , which can be reached via State Road 32 or State Road 201 in Oberrossau .

The place called "Rozzow" Rossau was first mentioned in 1378. At that time, no distinction was made between Ober- and Niederrossau. There is evidence for the mention of both places. a. for Niederrossau from 1551 as "Rossaw Nieder Gemeynn" and from 1791 as "Ober Roßau" and "Nieder Roßau". The listed Rossau Church in today's Niederrossau was built in 12/13. Century as a fortified church . It is therefore one of the oldest churches in Saxony. In 1483, George received from Honsberg to lock Schweta in Döbeln from Leisniger Burggrafen the village Rossau with dishes, interest and church fief. In 1551 Schweta became a manor and in 1555 Georg von Honsberg was the owner. He was master of Rossau and the large forest that went with it. Johann von Honsberg sold this forest to Elector Friedrich III in 1569 . On July 1, 1950, the municipality of Niederrossau was merged with the municipalities of Weinsdorf (with the district Liebenhain ) and Oberrossau to form the municipality of Rossau, which, through the second district reform in the GDR in 1952, became the district of Hainichen in the Chemnitz district (1953 in the Karl-Marx district -City renamed) was affiliated.
