In addition, chemical products, machines and artist paints were produced in Mügeln. Agriculture mainly produces potatoes, rye and forage crops on the sandy soils in the Dahlen area. Wheat and sugar beets are grown in the loess area of Oschatzer Pflege and Mügelner Ländchen. Fruit growing to the southwest of Mügeln had increased significantly since 1950.
