Location of Hartha in Saxony

Hartha is part of the municipality of the Saxon town of Oederan in the district of central Saxony .

geography

Hartha is located in the lower Osterzgebirge between Freiberg and Frankenberg and north of Oederan. The Kemnitzbach , which rises in the village, flows into the Große Striegis . Neighboring towns of Hartha are Bockendorf in the north, Wingendorf and Frankenstein in the west, Memmendorf and Schönerstadt in the south and Langenstriegis in the west.

history

Hartha was first mentioned in 1349 as Hartdorf ("settlement on the forest"). Later place names are "Harte" (1378), "die Hart" (1459), "Harthau" (1528), "Harta" (1555), "Dörre Hartta" (around 1600) and "Hartha" (1791). The place was on a Bohemian path on which salt was transported from Halle (Saale) to Prague . This is where the almost 350-year-old excursion restaurant “Räuberschänke” (formerly “Grüne Tanne”) was located.

Hartha belonged to the manor of the Schönberg manor Börnichen in the office of Schellenberg and the office of Augustusburg . The "Schoenberg rule" including judicial power did not end until 1856, when the jurisdiction of the place was transferred to the Royal Court of Oederan . Since 1875 Hartha belonged to the Flöha district administration , whose successor was the Flöha district in 1952 . In 1974 Hartha was incorporated into Frankenstein , with which it came to the district of Freiberg in 1994 and to the district of central Saxony in 2008 . Due to the incorporation of the community of Frankenstein and its districts into the city of Oederan, Hartha has been a district of Oederan since 2012.
