Memmendorf is part of the municipality of the Saxon town of Oederan in the district of central Saxony .

geography

Memmendorf is northeast of Oederan. The Memmendorfer Bach flowing through the village drains over the Kemnitzbach into the Große Striegis . Neighboring towns of Memmendorf are Hartha and Frankenstein in the north, Kirchbach in the south-west, Oederan in the south-east and Schönerstadt in the west.

history

Memmendorf was first mentioned in 1403 as "Emmerndorf". Later place names are Emerdorff (1456), Memmerndorff (1482) and Memmendorff (1493). The current spelling is documented for the year 1708. In 1480 the gentlemen von Schönberg zu Börnichen acquired the town of Memmendorf. Since then, the place belonged to the basic rule of the local Rittergut in the Official Schellenberg or office Augustusburg . The "Schoenberg rule" including judicial power did not end until 1856, when the jurisdiction of the place was transferred to the Royal Court of Oederan . There is evidence of mining in Memmendorf from the middle of the 16th century to the end of the 19th century. The largest pit was the "Hilfe Gottes Erbstolln" west of the village. Other occupied pits are the “Segen Gottes Spat Schacht”, the “Segen Gottes Stollenmund”, “Help God”, the “New Segen Stollenmund” and “Artifacts”.

Since 1875 Memmendorf has belonged to the Flöha district administration , whose successor was the Flöha district in 1952 . On January 1, 1994, Frankenstein and Memmendorf merged to form the new municipality of Frankenstein , which in turn was incorporated into the neighboring Oederan on January 1, 2012. Memmendorf has been part of the Freiberg district since 1994 , which was added to the central Saxony district in 2008.

Memmendorf is on the Chemnitz – Oederan – Freiberg – Dresden road. In 1801, a wagon break-out named "Goldener Stern" was opened on this site. The federal highway 173 leads south past the place today. In 2002, the first roundabout in the Freiberg district was built in Memmendorf.

The Dresden – Werdau railway line (part of the Saxony-Franconia Magistrale ) runs through the local area of ​​Memmendorf . The closest stops are the train stations Oederan in Oederan and Frankenstein (Sachs) in the Oberschöna district of Wegefarth . Before the railway line between Chemnitz and Dresden went into operation in 1869, the municipality of Memmendorf submitted an unsuccessful application for a stop.
