Lößnitztal is part of the municipality of the Saxon town of Oederan in the district of central Saxony . It should not be confused with the Lößnitzgrund near Radebeul , even if it is sometimes called that.

geography

Lößnitztal is located about 17 kilometers east of the Saxon city of Chemnitz , in the valley of the Große Lößnitz . State road 237 Falkenau - Eppendorf runs through the village .

Neighboring villages of Lößnitztal are Breitenau and Oederan in the north, Görbersdorf and Gahlenz in the northeast, Hammerleubsdorf in the east, Leubsdorf in the south, Schellenberg in the southwest, Metzdorf and Hohenfichte in the west and Hetzdorf in the northeast.

history

Lößnitztal is originally a factory settlement . It started with a mill, to which 2 textile companies came. During the GDR era, these traded as " VEB Vliestextilien" and a part of the "VEB twisting and sewing thread factory Oederan". Both plants, which also included smaller facilities in the neighboring Hetzbachtal to the north, employed many women from the surrounding areas.

With the opening of the stop of the same name on December 1, 1893, the settlement received a railway connection to the narrow-gauge railway Hetzdorf-Eppendorf-Großwaltersdorf that ran through the valley . Operations ceased in 1967 and the line was later dismantled.

With the incorporation of Breitenau to Oederan on January 1, 1997, it became part of the municipality. On January 1, 2012 Lößnitztal had 37 inhabitants.
